Project Management

In a recent multimillion dollar program involving paper conversion equipment for a major global corporation, Alexander & Associates was requested to supply project management, cost engineering, and procurement support, in addition to design support. The customer estimated and funded $19.7 million for capital equipment purchases and Alexander & Associates Project Management and Design support. The project consisted of the integration of components purchased globally, by the customer, to meet regional codes/standards. Schedules, systems, and work processes were established.

After approximately 2 years of effort the project was completed on schedule. Of the $19.7 million originally estimated by the customer for the effort, only $14.4 million was required and spent. Equipment cost savings can be attributed to the inquiry process, quantity discounts and scope reduction through work processes such as design option analysis. As for Alexander & Associates support services, even after substantial approved scope additions, Alexander & Associates was able to bring the final support cost in $700,000 under the original funded amount.

  • Through proper trending/forecasting process and resource utilization, A&A saved the customer $700,000 in support cost
